So last night we went to see Take That again, but this time at the City of Manchester Stadium. The last time we were there was about a year ago when we saw U2 (one of the worst concerts we've ever been to) and last night was a distinct improvement.
For starters we had tickets in the "gold circle", which was supposedly the bit immediately in front of the stage. Well... not quite. There were in fact two "gold circle" areas, the first of which held about 400 people and was on a first-come-first-served basis, and then the second one which was behind this held about 4000, maybe more. Guess which we were in? Yes, we were squashed in with the masses and ended up over to the side of the stage, not far from one of the walkways, so at least Lou got all girly and excited when Gary Barlow walked past twice ("He looked at me!" "He waved at me!") The show itself was identical to the arena show from earlier in the year, only on a bit of a bigger scale, and Lulu showed up to scream all over "Relight My Fire". Best thing: no Williams. Hurrah.
Afterwards, still wearing our snazzy "gold circle" wristbands, we trudged back to the car which was about two miles away, drove home, and fell asleep in minutes - seconds in Lou's case.
This evening we're off to see the Foo Fighters, which is a bit of a contrast. Need to book more concerts for later in the year...
Feeling incredibly tired at the moment and my throat is going bad again. We desperately need a holiday and thankfully we're now counting the days until Santorini 2006. Desperately need to just switch off and do nothing for a few days.
Work is still going great. Spent the last two weeks in Leeds doing different SQL 2000 courses, one for a bunch of people who didn't speak, and this last week for a great group of people. Tomorrow I'm in Manchester - yay! - then back to Leeds again the week after, taking us up to the holiday.
My fourth (and final, I have promised) copy of "House of Leaves" arrived the other day and I'm well pleased with it. All colours are intact and it looks lovely, but even I'm starting to think that four copies of one book is maybe just a little excessive.
Not much news on the writing front. The lady who was editing the forthcoming Bewrite flash anthology for which "Katie's Hair", "Dinner" and "The Gap" were written has dropped out of the project and so it is currently on hold. I'm still working on ideas but probably won't start them properly until after the holiday. I am currently thinking that "Katie's Hair" is one of my very best stories yet though - I'm really very pleased with it.
All for now. Off to get ready for Grohl.
