Well, the Foo Fighters were awesome - one of the most exciting and enjoyable concerts I've ever been to. I'm not exactly a huge fan, and although I have all of their albums I like maybe three songs on each of them, so I'm hardly a die-hard fan. But anyway, along we went, and we were completely blown away by the show - the band seemed to be really enjoying themselves, the selection of songs was great, the light show (lasers!) was outstanding... really couldn't fault it. Oh, and as per the R.E.M. show there last year (still the best concert we've ever been to) the organisation after the show was outstanding - the show finished at 10.30 and we were back at home for 11, and we drove too. Three cheers for the stewards and the police, who were out in force.
This week I've had a rare treat - a course in Manchester! I ran a 2073 and it was ok. A fairly quiet group again for the most part, one of whom had huge problems staying awake and their questions proved this to be the case. The one bad thing was that my voice problems seemed to be coming back and I was very croaky towards the end of the week. Oh dear... This coming week I'm doing a 2733 (SQL 2005 admin update) in Leeds, and then... HOLIDAY! Santorini 2006 is now just days away and we can hardly wait. My pile of books is currently behind me on the floor, so I'm all sorted out. Just need clothes now.
Last night we had a Remarc night out to celebrate the birthday of Bernie, our fab receptionist. We only went to a pub in Manchester but had a great time and Lou got the tram from Altrincham to come and join us, which was nice. By the time we left at around 10.45 I was a mess (to be fair I hadn't eaten since 12.00, setup was done for 4.30 - not bad when there were 14 courses to do - and we were drinking at 5) and Lou had to keep waking me up on the train as I kept falling asleep. Oops. After we'd got home we immediately went to bed and I woke with a start at 4 AM with my light still on, the newspaper open on my lap, a full mug of cold tea in my hand and a raging headache. Never drinking again... until the next time.
