And just how good was Prince at the Brits? Great to see Wendy & Lisa there along with Sheila E (the phrase "the band's back together!" kept going through my mind) and about a minute into "Purple Rain" I realised I was trembling, and then all of a sudden I burst into floods of tears and didn't stop until about five minutes after he'd finished. "Well, did you enjoy that?" asked Lou, but I couldn't speak and it took me a good while to regain my composure. Daft, I know, but it really got to me.
The album, "3121", is out on 20th March and I can't wait. Advance word is that it is excellent, and the new songs I've heard so far ("Te Amo Corazon", "Fury" - both played at the Brits - "Black Sweat" and "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed") are all rather good. Truly, the man is back.
Other stuff...
SQL 2005 is still keeping me busy and I've just finished a three-week stint in Leeds. Feel exhausted and my reward was a migraine which woke me this morning at 5AM. Bah. Back in Manchester next week for three days, then back to Leeds for the end of the week (and the week after that).
The writing is still going very well, and the first draft of "Can't Remember?" is almost finished. "Within" is still ticking along, albeit mostly still in my head, but as soon as "CR" is finished I'll get down to work on that one. I'm also working mentally on "The Routine" (which has been around since 1998, but which I suddenly found enthusiasm for a couple of weeks ago) and "The Ten", which will be long, and has also been around for a while. In addition, I'm also still editing Neil Richards's book for him. Very busy, but it's good to be creating again.
Bought tickets to see The Cardigans the other week. I'm quite a fan especially as a) they've recorded my all-time favourite album ("Long Gone Before Daylight" - utterly perfect in every way), and b) Nina Persson is gorgeous. Currently playing lots of their stuff to Lou in order to prime her for the show :-) The concert is in April. Now I just need Prince to announce his dates...
