Tremendous Telford

After a somewhat "hmmmmm" week last week at the end of which I felt immensely depressed, ruining my weekend as a result, I've just had two tremendous days in Telford running a 2071 (Querying a SQL 2000 Database) course for Telford & Wrekin (got to be an ampersand) Borough Council. What I saw of Telford (the A5 and some roundabouts) was very nice and the training centre which was in the university was fantastic - a really nice building with excellent facilities. Eight great people on the course, we had a laugh, and needless to say the course finished late (5 on Monday, 5.30 today) and once again I failed to finish it... but then again this is 2071 so no surprises there.

Horrible journey home at the end of it today though. The rain was pouring down, the M6 was pure spray, and a cretin in a BMW almost killed me. Fundamental driving rule: When leaving the hard shoulder you accelerate along the hard shoulder until you match the speed of the motorway traffic, then you indicate and join the motorway in a suitable gap. What you don't do, driver of K533 MSN, is indicate from standstill, then pull out 100 yards in front of me when it is raining, a mass of spray, and you seem to believe that you are pulling away from outside your house. Cue me slamming my brakes on, the ABS kicking in (thank God), me whacking the horn for the first time in the seven years I've owned the car, and finally coming to a stop about five feet away because Mr K533 MSN had pulled half out AND STOPPED! So what happened next? He flashed his hazard lights and tootled off. I drove home very shaken, got in, and drank some vodka. The last of my bottle of "Grey Goose" - must get some more.

Back to the world of CRM tomorrow. Yippee!

I love training again :->
