I've been reading about a new singer / group called Florence and the Machine for a while now, heard they'd won awards and been voted the "sound of 2009" and so on, and yet I hadn't heard any of their stuff. Yesterday I was watching TV and saw her perform this song live. It is quite extraordinarily good stuff, and very, very stirring indeed - in fact it reminds me of the first time I heard Arcade Fire, when I found myself staring at the TV in silence, grinning like a loon, smacking hell out of the sofa and the floor with my hands and feet. This is "The Dog Days Are Over". Enjoy.
